Perfect attendance is often celebrated as a hallmark of dedication and responsibility. However, emerging research and anecdotal evidence suggest that this emphasis on never missing school can have unintended negative consequences for students' mental health. As an author who writes about mental health and having personally experienced the impact of perfectionism, I’d like to shed light on this issue and share insights on why perfect attendance can sometimes be more harmful than beneficial.

The Pressure to Maintain Perfect Attendance

The concept of perfect attendance is widely promoted in educational systems as an indicator of commitment and reliability. Schools often reward students for having no absences, reinforcing the idea that being present at all times is a mark of success.
